Latest best practice update from the UK – the Revised EYFS 2020

Updated: May 18, 2021

‘No job is more important than working with children in the early years.’

Development Matters 2020 p.3

As some of you may know, for the past 3 years the UK government has been leading consultations to enable changes to further improve the EYFS. These changes made to the revised EYFS are based on experience, practice, research and evidence. 2900 early adopted schools and nurseries in the UK are trialing the changes this academic year. From September 2021 they will be mandatory and therefore followed in all early years settings in the UK.

The reforms announced are designed to improve outcomes for all children at 5 years old, improve language development for all children but particularly for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, and reduce the workload for teachers and childcare practitioners.

These exciting reforms are an opportunity to review your practice and focus on the professional judgments of early practitioners to meet a child’s needs.

QuEST is offering a thought provoking and informative three hour interactive CPD next term to help you prepare for these changes.

An Introduction to the revised EYFS and Development Matters 2020

This CPD can be booked for individual schools and nurseries and we will be offering open sessions next term too.
